A honeymoon is a wonderful way for couples to begin their new life together and enjoy a relaxing moment after the whirlwind of wedding planning. With UK Google searches for “honeymoon” up 50% in the past three months alone, it’s clear that couples are actively looking for the ideal place to celebrate.

To unveil the trending honeymoon destinations, long-haul travel specialists at Travelbag analysed how much bookings have evolved over the past three months (from May to July 2025) as well as the average annual UK Google search volume for each destination, creating an overall score that reveals where Brits are most eager to go.

Bali leads the honeymoon rankings, with bookings up 16% in the past three months and 8,400 annual UK searches

Bali, located in Indonesia, has been named the top-trending honeymoon destination.

Known for its breathtaking mountain landscapes and yoga culture, the Indonesian island also attracts many newlyweds, resulting in a 16% increase in bookings in the past three months. This destination also receives over 8,000 annual Google searches in the UK, reinforcing the interest of British travellers.

In second place is the Maldives, an archipelago famed for its crystal-clear waters and white-sand beaches. The destination is a favourite among British newlyweds, reflected in annual Google searches that are as high as for Bali, at 8,400 per year.

Mauritius rounds off the top three, thanks to its growing popularity as a honeymoon destination. The East African island recorded an 8% increase in bookings over the past three months and accounts for more than 7,000 Google searches per year. A haven of natural beauty, offering breathtaking landscapes, is the perfect environment for couples starting their journey together.

The Bahamas and Tanzania have seen a 200% and 117% booking surge between May and July 2025

Despite a lower annual search volume, the Bahamas still enjoys strong appeal among honeymooners. In fact, this tropical paradise recorded the highest increase in bookings over the past three months, with an impressive 200% surge.

Tanzania, including the idyllic island of Zanzibar, has also grown in popularity recently, with a 117% increase in bookings. There, couples can marvel at splendid scenery and encounter a wide variety of wildlife, notably at the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most stunning natural safari destinations, named among Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders.

Sheryl Drane, Regional Destination Manager and Maldives destination expert at Travelbag, shares the must-see sites of the Maldives during your honeymoon, as well as when to go:

“The Maldives is the ultimate honeymoon destination, offering a mix of luxury, seclusion, and natural beauty. For a truly romantic and peaceful honeymoon, consider visiting between December and April, when there is plenty of sunshine and crystal-clear waters, perfect for relaxing on white-sand beaches and exploring vibrant coral reefs. At this time of year, temperatures range between 24°C and 31°C, so you’ll need to make sure you pack your sunscreen.”

“Relaxation and romance take centre stage here. You can enjoy day-diving trips or head out on a glass-bottomed kayak together. But if you’re looking for something more exciting, there are plenty of watersports available on the islands, including water skiing and parasailing. You could even try a Maldivian cooking class to take some culinary skills back home with you.”
